Roller Rubber Spring

Roller Rubber Spring

GMT

Description:

Roller springs are vibration-damping elements consisting of a rubber ring, a tapered metal pin and a surrounding metal housing. Unlike bonded rubber-metal components, the rubber ring and the adjoining metal parts are not connected by vulcanisation.

Under compressive loading, the rubber ring deforms between the tapered pin and the housing. This construction provides elastic load support and helps reduce the transmission of vibration and dynamic forces within the rail vehicle.

Roller springs are manufactured in Germany in a wide range of sizes and technical configurations. Their spring characteristics can be adapted to the intended application within the permissible operating capacity. Project-specific versions can be produced according to a technical drawing, an existing component, a physical sample or a customer specification.

Typical Application Areas:

Roller Rubber Spring

Vibration Damping in Rail Vehicles

Roller springs are used to damp vibrations in rail vehicles. Their non-bonded construction allows the rubber ring to deform between the shaped metal components while carrying compressive loads.

The interaction between the tapered pin, rubber ring and housing determines the elastic characteristics of the component. Different designs can therefore be configured to meet the requirements of the intended installation

Key Technical Benefits

  • effective vibration damping under compressive loading;
  • elastic support of dynamic loads;
  • reduction of force transmission into adjoining structures;
  • non-vulcanised connection between the rubber ring and metal parts;
  • adaptable spring characteristics within the permissible capacity;
  • wide range of available dimensions and configurations;
  • reliable performance under repeated operating loads.

Applications in Rolling Stock

Roller springs are suitable for vibration-control and elastic load-support applications in railway and urban rail vehicles.

They can be supplied for rolling stock maintenance, component replacement, refurbishment and modernisation projects, as well as for new vehicle applications requiring a project-specific spring configuration.

Project-Specific Manufacturing

The dimensions and spring characteristics of roller springs are selected or developed according to the intended installation and functional requirements.

Custom versions can be manufactured according to an existing technical drawing, original component, physical sample or defined customer specification. Each project is technically reviewed and calculated individually before production.

German Production and Quality Control

Roller springs and their individual rubber and metal components are manufactured in Germany under quality management systems certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 22163.

Quality control covers dimensional conformity, the correct configuration of the assembled components and the agreed compression and spring characteristics. The verification process is adapted to the individual roller-spring design.

The finished products are supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate.
